PowerNotes' proof-of-work process differs from other AI-based content detectors by focusing on the transparency and documentation of each step in the research and writing process rather than solely relying on algorithmic detection.

AI detectors can't be fully trusted as students can easily find ways to bypass them. Detectors often produce a high number of false positives, and using them may raise privacy concerns due to the need for personal information when creating accounts with AI providers like OpenAI.

PowerNotes welcomes educators from both K12 and higher ed institutions to join!

Participation in community discussions is entirely voluntary, so there's no strict time requirement to worry about. That said, joining in when you can is quite beneficial—it's a great way to engage in shared learning, discover best practices, and dive into interesting discussions. While it's flexible and you can contribute as your schedule allows, even brief participation can yield significant insights and inspiration.

Pilot costs are credited towards institutional purchases and discounts are offered for small-scale roll out. 

>What happens to my work?
Users can always export their projects from PowerNotes into Word documents or spreadsheets. Your work remains accessible and transferable, even if your institution decides not to continue with a license. Users can also purchase an individual license.The PowerNotes team will support your institution’s transition into a formal license.

Instructors can assign PowerNotes as course material (like a textbook) through the bookstore. The PowerNotes team will work with your bookstore to ensure the PowerNotes product is made available for students to purchase on the bookstore website.

The PowerNotes AI tools are currently powered by an OpenAI API. In the future we plan on having many different language model options. Our AI integration is different because we've built educational-focused features that are enhanced by AI and extend well beyond the capabilities of a simple chatbot.

A few best practices:
• Always have your students access their PowerNotes account via the link in their LMS course.
• If you’re using our Communities tool (no LMS), have your students use their school email address when creating accounts.
• Make sure students know to accept the PowerNotes Community invite once they’ve created their account. 
• Use the Project Description to put any important details surrounding an Assignment in front of your students (due dates, formatting expectations, etc.)
• If a student is struggling with any aspect of PowerNotes, please have them submit their issue via the Feedback buttons within the PowerNotes website and extension or have them contact Caroline at Caroline@PowerNotes.com.
