Level-Up Workshop 1: Using PowerNotes to Promote Information Literacy

Date: Thursday, July 13th 3:00pm - 4:00pm EST

Host: Dr. Catrina Mitchum, Faculty Consultant & Implementation Specialist

Co-host: Kyle Zegarac, Director of Account Management

In this 1 hour workshop, participants will learn to:

1. Articulate how PowerNotes can be useful for information literacy in general

2. Identify where in their course PowerNotes might help with information literacy

3. Develop an activity on information literacy

Overview:

The workshop will start with an overview of tools specific to information literacy on the platform by showing an example of what an information literacy activity might look like, how PowerNotes is built for doing an info literacy activity, and how students would experience the activity. The session will leave space and time for identifying areas of the participant’s curriculum where information literacy activities could be useful and start to develop and workshop creating an information literacy activity with PowerNotes.

Level-Up Workshop 2: How to Teach an Annotated Bib with PowerNotes

Date: Tuesday, July 25th 12:00pm - 1:00pm EST

Host: Dr. Catrina Mitchum, Faculty Consultant & Implementation Specialist

Co-host: Kyle Zegarac, Director of Account Management

In this 1 hour workshop, participants will learn to:

1. Identify the elements of their Annotated Bibliography Assignments where PowerNotes can help their students

2. Develop an assignment sequence around the use of PowerNotes that makes teaching and learning the annotated bibliography a more productive endeavor

Overview:

The workshop will start an example of how an Annotated Bibliography assignment can be simplified and made more effective by the implementation of PowerNotes. The session will leave space and time for identifying where in their own Annotated Bibliography assignments participants might implement the use of PowerNotes and for developing and workshopping instructions for creating an Annotated Bibliography within PowerNotes.

3. Your syllabus schedule, a course map, or an annotated bibliography set of instructions. (something that will give you an overview of how you’re currently asking students to create and interact with an annotated bibliography).
